ah, the joys of being a parent…

As many of you know, I drive a loud audi. It is actually probably too loud, but I enjoy it, so I am not feeling too bad about it. Anyway.... last night I drove home from work, as I tend to do, and I parked in front of the house. I parallel parked it in the spot in front of the house, so I was making a decent bit of noise. I parked and got out and as I was pulling out the keys to unlock the front door, it opens and rebecca is there holding a smiling mason. Not used to being greeted at the door, I asked what was up.

Turns out as I pulled up and was parking, mason was hanging out on the 3rd floor with rebecca. Mason pointed at the windows and said 'daddy'. That is awesome, my child recognizes my car by sound.

The joys of being a father.

VOTE

I swear I will go kick each and every one of you that don't vote.

Seriously. Vote.

And PLEASE, vote for the candidate you WANT TO WIN, NOT AGAINST THE ONE YOU DON'T WANT!

The more I think about it, the more I hate the 2 party system, as it forces people to only vote for 2 candidates. I mean SURE you can write in, but that is not a good alternative. And yes, the green party made the ballot in IL this year, and that is awesome.

But the idea of 'throwing your vote away' or voting for the 'lesser of 2 evils' is not actually going to CHANGE anything really. It won't ever break our 2 party system. It won't ever really bring about any change.

So go out. Vote for the candidates YOU want. The candidates that best align with YOUR beliefs.

For IL governor...

Rod, topinka... or consider the green party candidate, Rich Whitney... or the libertarian candidate, Mark McCoy ... or the Constitution candidate, Randy Stufflebeam.

There are options. Your candidate might not win. But if you ever want to see any change, why not vote for the person you WANT? If enough people actually paid attention to the issues and voted for the person they liked the best, imagine what could happen. Oh, and you are going to need to review the candidates EACH ELECTION! Party lines DO change over time.

So go vote.

mason update

so I was thinking I need to blog more on mason more often. Time goes by too quick, and it is worth noting the stuff he does. So without further ado..

he recently discovered pointing. it rules. like in the last week or so... so you can say 'where is mommy?' and he'll point at rebecca. kitty, daddy, etc. it is cool. so now he is posting at everything. it is really funny.

so big... you can go up to mason and say 'how big is mason?' and he'll smile all big and put his arms up in the air. 'so big!'. that is in the last 2-3 weeks. funny stuff.

he is still talking up a storm, not that we can't understand most of what he is saying. But his first word was kitty. that was about a month ago I would wager. He LOVES the cat. He loves the cat, he loves the cat magnets. he loves the cats in the books. 'kitty kitty kitty'. it rules.

he is still crawling, army crawl style. he will get up on all fours and bounce around, and will occasionally crawl around for a few steps, but then he is back to the army crawl.

he likes standing but he isn't super good at. he can't pull himself up, but in the last week or 3 you can pull him up and lean him against the couch, ottoman, whatever and he can stand there holding on for a little bit. and if you hold him up and walk him around, he will step. he is getting the balance thing down.

man.

I am in a ok mood. I am ticked off about a lot of LITTLE things that, by themselves or even in small groups, would be fine... but it seems they are all piled up... oh well.

So I needed to make some changes to my company web site, which we paid some people to do like a year ago. The changes were simple, minor text changes... but since they did a bunch of text as graphics (grrr) I had to either try to match the existing in photoshop, or convert it to text (like it should have been). So I started poking around in the code, and it was all poorly written and pretty much all tables. So I rewrote the site in CSS yesterday. Today I need to change some of the images because instead of using something like padding or margins, they ADDED WHITE SPACE TO THE IMAGES. really? ok. awesome.

but it reminds me that I need to redo my sites. I need more time. I need to get some shit done to free up some time.
